NRU "BelSU" Student Institute of Engineering and Digital Technologies organized a special holiday event "Superheroes must also know math"
Representatives of the Institute of Engineering and Digital Technologies Management, teachers, students and schoolchildren gathered to celebrate the day of the mathematical constant π, which has been awarded such an honor for the 31st time all over the world. The guests and participants of the event were welcomed by its organizer, associate professor of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Modeling Anna Yaduta, who noted that the number π (3.14 ...), being celebrated on March 14, is known as the mysterious number among scientists.
First-year students prepared a theatrical performance for the audience, talked about the events that occurred on March 14 in different years. They mentioned the publication of the first Russian printed book “The Apostle” by Ivan Fedorov in 1564, the invention of the first cotton fiber cleaner, the creation of the first VCR and physicist Albert Einstein`s birthday. Guests also watched a video about the scientist’s life and other popular science videos. In accordance with the tradition, pies with the symbols of this amazing number were prepared for all guests of the holiday as a surprise.
