BNRU Impresses at an International Conference

Our students demonstrated their knowledge and skill in an international conference organised by the Law Institute

The conference on 'Moral Imperatives in Law, Education, Science and Culture' is the largest in the Central Black Earth Region. The conference, now in its sixth year, was devised by Professor Elena Safronova, Chair of Constitutional and International Law, and leader of the Belgorod chapter of the Union of Orthodox Scientists. Around 800 people attended from Russian cities and towns including Belgorod, Voronezh, Vladimir, Yelets, Kursk, Kolomna, Lipetsk, Moscow, Orel, Ryazan, and Tambov, as well as from abroad, coming from Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, and Bulgaria.

The program included an educational conference, showcasing scientific papers, an Academic Competition on spiritual and moral culture, and a poetry competition.
Our students did us and their Departments proud. We took the lion's share of the prizes on offer to the 200 competitors. Natalia Maltseva took first place in the 'Moral Imperatives in Law' category. Ms Maltseva is both an undergraduate at the Law Institute and employed by the Belgorod Region Judicial Department. Vladislav Klimenko, Lilia Aslamova, and Alexander Volovich, all students at the Law Institute, also received prizes in this category. Igor Goncharenko, from the Theology and Sociology Department, won first prize, and Darya Mukhartova, a student at the Institute of Cross-cultural Communication and International Relations (ICCIR), won second prize for their work in the 'Philosophy and History of Russian Statehood and Culture' category. Lyudmila Belova, also from the ICCIR, managed second place in the 'Priorities of Pedagogy and Modern Russian Education' category.

Professor Galina Belyaeva, from the Department of Administrative Law, Dr Oksana Stepanyuk, Head of the Department of Criminal Law, and Dr Andrei Stepanyuk, from the Department of Civil Law, all received awards for their work at BNRU.
In the Academic Competition, our team, from the Theology and Sociology Department, were beaten into second place by a team from Voronezh. Nikita Safronov, a postgraduate student of the Law Institute, won the poetry competition.
