'The Canterville Ghost' Haunts BNRU!

Students participating in the first phase of the International Language Summer School (ILSS) concluded the phase with a performance of the famous Oscar Wilde play

The phase is the first of three phases of the ILSS, and ran throughout May in the New Campus. The focus of the ILSS is preparing students for exams in foreign languages. 38 students were supervised by some of the best English teachers in the University, namely Elena Kalyuzhnaya, Zhanna Bubyreva, and Elena Lukyanova. The format for the classes is a specially developed program of traditional teaching supplemented with drama and role-play, topical discussions and treasure hunts.
The first shift culminated in a performance of 'The Canterville Ghost' based on the play of the same name by Oscar Wilde. Anna Doborovich, who runs the dramatic side of the course, said,

Our theatre has existed for several years. I hope it helps students to develop their communication skills, both during rehearsals and in the performance itself. In the drama workshop, our budding actors get caught up in the creative atmosphere, and are exposed to some of the best examples of English Classic Literature in the original.

After the play, all the participants, many of whom are regularly involved in the ILSS, received certificates. They ably demonstrated their enthusiasm and passion for English, the love of which had brought them to this unforgettable moment. All were invited to take part in the main camp at the Nezhegol Campus, where they will be joined by native speakers and senior teachers.
