Cutting-Edge Physics

BNRU will work with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)

Dr Alexander Kubankin, Head of BNRU's International Scientific and Educational Laboratory of Radiation Physics (ISELRP), spoke at CERN about the research capabilities of his laboratory, and a proposal to conduct joint experiments on the study of the anomalous properties of Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation. On his return, he explained,

CERN is home to the Large Hadron Collider and the world's largest laboratory of high-energy physics. This exciting partnership will not only expand our capabilities, but also confirm the world class level of science undertaken at Belgorod National Research University.

The creation of ISELRP in 2015 was the basis for the University's inclusion in 'DarkSide', a prestigious international scientific collaboration engaged in the search for dark matter. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation is currently looking to conduct large complex science, and is inviting students interested in science to apply to ISELRP or partner organisations, the Lebedev Physics Institute in Moscow, Moscow State University's Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics in Moscow, the Kurchatov Research Centre at the Institute for High Energy Physics in Moscow Region, Tomsk Polytechnic University, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics' Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso in Italy, and the Royal Holloway University in London, UK.
