Museums of the Future

Dr Irina Denisova and Victoria Liu-Ku-Tan took part in a seminar at Belgorod State Art Museum (BSAM) entitled 'Working with Visitors in a 21st Century Museum: Modern Trends and Contemporary Practice', run by the Russian State Museum

The seminar was part of BSAM's 35th anniversary celebrations and drew in museum staff from neighbouring Regions including, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Orel, and Tambov, as well as from across our Region. The curators and academics who run their Regional museums were able to share their experiences and disseminate ideas on ways to make museums more fun and attractive to visitors. The seminar was led by the staff of the Russian State Museum and BSAM. Attendees also gained an insight into visitors surveyed at the 'Battle of Prokhorovka State Military Museum' which serves as the museum of the Battle of Kursk and a memorial to the soldiers who fell in the largest military operation in history.

Dr Denisova, Director of the BNRU History Museum, addressed the seminar, and shared her experiences of working with visitors, and talked about the exhibitions currently under way at the University.
