65 Mighty Oaks

Staff from BNRU's Institute of Economics and Management made their contribution to the '65 Good Deeds' project celebrating our Region's 65th anniversary, by planting 65 oak saplings in the University's Botanical Garden

The '65 Good Deeds' project is aimed at improving quality of life for local people, and BNRU staff and pupils are making an active contribution. This time round, staff and students from the Institute of Economics and Management took time to remove fallen leaves from around the maple trees, and plant an avenue of oak trees commemorating the unification of the Economics and Management Institutes into a single Institute, which also happened this year.
Professor Viktor Zakharov, Director of the Institute, expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for their active participation in the landscaping of the botanical garden, saying,

In the bustle of everyday life, you must find a time and a place for a good deeds and useful work. In the Botanical Garden, we are contributing in our own modest way to the '65 Good Deeds' project in honour of the anniversary of Belgorod Region and the Year of the Volunteering in Russia.

The project was initiated by Evgeny Savchenko, the governor of Belgorod Region, aimed at improving the quality of life for the Region's population. It includes landscaping courtyards, creating pedestrian zones, eliminating unauthorised dumps, cleaning springs and reservoirs, general environmental clean-ups, volunteer days, holidays and festivals, and other social projects.
