Building Bridges and Spreading the Word

The organising Council for the Centre for Cross-Cultural Communication (CCC) met to approve their plan for an expanded role in the 2018-2019 academic year. The plan includes more efforts to integrate foreign students, and a promotional role for graduates

Dr Svetlana Ostrikova, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs and Youth Policy, who chairs the Council, praised the CCC for fulfilling its desired role in the cultural life of the University. She recognised the value of a single well-known Centre, which acts as a focus for integrating overseas students, as a showcase for their cultures, and which helps to prevent antisocial attitudes among the student body. Dr Ostrikova went on to express her desire to see greater involvement of foreign students in the cultural life of the university, particularly in the projects undertaken at the Youth Cultural Centre, the main Centre for art and music at BNRU.
Dr Vladislav Kuchmisty, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Deputy Chair of the Council, spoke about some of the issues involved in the education of students who are unfamiliar with Russian Culture. He went on to speak about some of the upcoming events being held at the CCC. He announced the introduction of 'BNRU Ambassadors', hand-picked graduates, who will represent BNRU in the wider world, and the University's on-going expansion of its academic exchange program. He explained that this will also involve foreign teachers from partner universities teaching at BNRU.
