The two post-graduate students showed off their work to the Minister of Education and Science, Mikhail Kotyukov, and 11,000 other participants and visitors from 90 countries. Mr Gayvoronsky has developed a device which uses UV to send communication signals through smoke and areas with low mobile signal. This technology is particularly useful for emergency services and those who tackle wildfires. Mr Klenin has created a miniature controlled neutron generator using oriented nanotubes.

There were also several meetings during the Conference, one of which involved Dr Natalya Govorukha, Director of the Higher School of Economics, who spoke on lessons our University has learned by being a designated a 'Federal Innovation Platform'. She also gave a talk on the work being done here to train managers and administrators for the expansion of tech innovation at Belgorod State University, which is widely considered to be 'best practice' in Russia.

The Conference is a showcase for the latest in Russian technology and systems, and aims at forging links between global commerce and academia, and selling Russian expertise to the world.
