The NRU “BelSU” performance within Belgorod REC framework

The meeting was held online under the chairmanship of the NRU “BelSU” Rector, Professor Oleg Polukhin. The Deputy Director of the Department of Scientific Research Larisa Verzunova spoke about the progress and the first results of the NRU “BelSU” work towards the implementation of the program of the Belgorod world-class scientific and educational center “Innovative Solutions in the Agro-Industrial Complex”. According to her, the result of the first year of work include 10 patents for inventions obtained by the NRU “BelSU” in the prior areas of the scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation. In addition, university scientists have published 156 articles in scientific journals indexed in the international Scopus and/or Web of Science databases. Among other significant achievements is the financial support of the NRU “BelSU” Botanical Garden`s project obtained from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in amount of 80 million rubles, the creation of a genomic editing laboratory at the Scientific Research Institute of Pharmacology of Living Systems and the start of its equipping. During the discussion of tasks for the year 2020, the NRU “BelSU” Rector, Oleg Polukhin, instructed the staff to specify the target indicators of the program and submit them for the academic council`s consideration.

We must build up intellectual potential in the areas that are part of the REC, and attract world-class scientists not only for scientific purposes, but also include them in the educational process, - Oleg Nikolaevich emphasized.
