BelSU scientists developed a training program to support people with leg amputation

The proposed rehabilitation program will help to overcome psychological stress and secondary disability of patients

Scientists from Belgorod State University together with specialists from Moscow State Regional University, Federal Scientific Center for Physical Culture and Sports, University of Ecology of Bucharest and BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov designed an innovative rehabilitation program, including the means of wave gymnastics, hypoxic training, as well as the well-known Key method developed by Hasai Aliyev at Y.A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center.

As Professor Viktor Kondakov notes, the new rehabilitation method, unlike the standard ones, involves not only placing patients on prostheses, but also the formation of advanced skills which are essential in everyday life. The latter include walking on an incline, stairs and rough terrain, turns. The effectiveness of the rehabilitation technique has been proven as a result of trials in which 30 men aged 30 to 60 years took part.

The study also demonstrated a significant decrease in the level of personal and situational anxiety among members of the experimental group. The scientists registered that the developed system of functional training can be individualized for any age and health condition.
