The regional branch of Russian Historical Society will be established at Belgorod State University

Belgorod State University held the inaugural meeting of the Russian Historical Society Branch in Belgorod region

Establishment of the regional branch of Russian Historical Society (RHS) was discussed at a meeting with Konstantin Mogilevsky, the Chairman of the RHS Board and Executive Director of National History Foundation, Nikolay Ryzhkov the Assistant of Kirill Galaev, the Russian Senator representing Belgorod region in Federation Council, Oleg Polukhin, Rector of Belgorod State University, the representatives of educational, public and scientific organizations of Belgorod region, scientists-historians, regional historians.

Konstantin Mogilevsky, the Chairman of the RIO Board, proposed BelSU Rector to chair the regional branch. Andrei Papkov, the Dean of the university�s History and Philology Department, was appointed as his deputy.

Oleg Polukhin expressed his gratitude for he given credence and pointed out that the university had been a centre of historical research for many years. The regional society branch will enable to investigate the regional history more thoroughly, to launch fruitful cooperation with other regional branches in the Russian Federation and to promote patriotic education and historical knowledge of young people in Belgorod region.

In his turn, Konstantin Mogilevsky noted that the purpose of the Society is to primarily popularize high-quality scientific historical knowledge.
