Chess in the Crimea

‘Sudak’ recreation center hosted the All-Russian Chess Festival ‘The Great Silk Road – 2018’ for 10 days. The competitions, which are held for the fifth year in a row, were organized by representatives of the organization ‘Sport for All’ in the Sudak City District and BNRU Center for the Development of Intellectual Sports with the support and assistance of Sudak Administration, the Sudak Fortress Museum.

6 tournaments were held, and the simultaneous game on 20 boards was given by the international grandmaster Alexander Ivanov. At the stage of the national student chess league the victory went to Roman Golubev (Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism), the second place – Ivan Klimov (BNRU). Top three prize winners also belongs to BNRU - Arina Yaryzko and Daria Andreeva. In the team classification, the first and second teams of BNRU took the 2 nd and 3 rd place among representatives of the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism (Moscow).

Pupils of BNRU Center for the Development of Intellectual Sports took part in children's tournaments. The best result was shown by Anna Krivolapova (under 15 years old), she became the third among the girls.
