Times Higher Education Assessors to Visit BNRU

Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BNRU, attended an elite academic conference and piqued the curiosity of one of the leading global academic ranking organisations...

The Rector was invited to the 25th '5-100 Project' Conference, and the Times Higher Education (THE) Research Excellence Summit being held at the National University of Science and Technology MISiS (NUST MISiS) in Moscow. He listened to a report from Mikhail Kotyukov, the Minister for Science and Higher Education, outlining the main development goals in higher education in the near future. Next, Marina Borovskaya, the Deputy Minister, spoke about the implementation of national projects in higher education and science. After this, Andrei Volkov, Deputy Chairman of the Council on Improving the Competitiveness of Russian Universities, talked about the 5-100 Project, and about some of the results of Russian higher education reform.
Professor Polukhin then had a formal meeting with Dr Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISiS, and Dr Edvard Galazhinsky, Rector of National Research Tomsk State University, where they all agreed on greater cooperation in establishing Research Centres of global significance.

Then he met Michael Caruana, Regional Data Sales Director for the THE. The Rector spoke to him about our work, and he agreed to visit BNRU in December to assess us, with a view to including us on the list of Universities with global reach. The Rector formally invited Phil Baty, Chief Knowledge Officer at THE, and Duncan Ross, the Data and Analytics Director, to come over in 2019 and get involved in planning BNRU's continued success.
