This year, the bananas are larger, sweeter and more fragrant than previous crops
Bananas appeared in the universitys winter garden in 2002. The collection includes two types of exotic plants - dwarf banana (Musa acuminate) and baggio (Musa basjoo), which last bloomed this year in March. The giant bunch, consisting of 25 fruits has ripened for almost six months in the conditions of our winter garden.
A banana is more like a tree in size, but in fact it is one of the largest herbaceous plants on Earth. In the environment of BelSU Winter Garden, the bananas height is 3.5 m, and in nature there are species that reach 10 and even 15 meters in height.
