I. Educational activities
The Faculty implements the following fields of study:
- 44.03.05 Pedagogical education, bachelor programs in "English and German", "English and Spanish", "English and Chinese", "German and English", "French and English".
- 44.03.01 Pedagogical education, bachelor program "Foreign language".
- 44.04.01 Pedagogical education, master programs "Linguoculturological strategies in foreign language education", "Linguodidactic activity of a multicultural linguistic personality", "Education in the field of foreign languages".

II. Research
At the Department of German and French Languages, research is carried out within the framework of the university-wide scientific direction: “Multicultural identity and problems of language categorization” (Code ГРНТИ: 16.21.00; 13.07.00).
The leader of the direction is Arkadiy P. Sedykh, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor. Leading active scientists working in this field: Aleksandr M. Amatov, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of English Language and Teaching Methods, and Elena A. Ogneva, Doctor of Philological Sciences, associate professor, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages.
The Department of Foreign Languages conducts research within the framework of the scientific direction "Modeling and interpretation of knowledge formats" (Doctor of Philological Sciences, associate professor E. Ogneva).
- Natalya A. Besedina – Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of English Language and Teaching Methods, the specialist in the field of cognitive grammar, cognitive semantics, the author of the theory of morphological representation in language. Member of the Russian Association of Cognitive Linguists (RACL), Vice-President of RACL, expert of RACL;
- Aleksandr M. Amatov – Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of English Language and Teaching Methods, the specialist in the field of language evolution, paradigmatic syntax and critical discourse analysis;
- Svetlana N. Stepanenko – PhD in Philology, associate professor of the Department of English Language and Teaching Methods, the specialist in the field of cognitive semantics. Member of the Russian Association of Cognitive Linguists (RACL);
- Olesya V. Fedotova – PhD in Philology, associate professor of the Department of English Language and Teaching Methods, the specialist in the field of cognitive and frame semantics. Member of the Russian Association of Cognitive Linguists (RACL).
- Elena A. Ogneva – Doctor of Philological Sciences, associate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, Correspondent member of RANS, Member of the Russian Association of Cognitive Linguists (RACL);
- Natalya V. Zimovets – PhD in Philology, associate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages; the specialist in the field of translation theory.
Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Natalya A. Besedina developed a theory of morphological representation, provides a new explanation of the mechanism of formation of meaning in the process of speech generation.
Faculty teachers are involved in updating the content of foreign languages teaching technologies. Professor Arkadiy P. Sedykh is the leader of the university-wide scientific direction «Multicultural identity and problems of language categorization». Within the framework of the direction, a cognitive-communicative typology of a linguistic personality has been developed and its semiotic status has been determined, functional-communicative structures and mechanisms for studying the principles of linguistic categorization have been studied, and a model for the analysis and national-cultural interpretation of stable verbal complexes has been developed. 5 PhD theses have been defended under the supervision of Arkadiy P. Sedykh. He has published over 150 works, including 6 monographs and a Russian-French dictionary, study guides and articles. He has 19 author’s certificates for registered databases, computer programs. Arkadiy P. Sedykh is a visiting professor at Mogilev State University named after A.A. Kuleshov (Belarus) and Sergy-Ponoise University (France), where he regularly lectures and is engaged in active research activities. He is the organizer, leader and participant of different scientific international conferences and colloquia both in our country and abroad (Belarus, France).
The «Linguistic horizons» and «Experientia est optima magistra» International conferences are held annually at the Faculty.
III. The Faculty's achievements in scholar, educational and methodological activities
Faculty Pride is its alumni, including PhDs, Honored Teachers of the Russian Federation, school principals, heads of preschool educational institutions, Honorary workers of Education of the Russian Federation, winners of the best teachers contests. Faculty alumni successfully manage regional and municipal educational departments, work in municipal and regional administration, in the deaprtments of education, culture and social protection.
Currently, the Faculty employs over 30 teachers who are its graduates.
Among the Faculty’s alumni are the Honored Teachers: Galina I. Gavrilova, Marina V. Konovko, Lyudmila I. Sizikova.
